Hesab
Point of sale for small shops. Works offline, on the shop’s own devices.
Overview
Hesab (حساب) is a point-of-sale and store-management app for supermarkets, groceries, pharmacies and phone shops. The shop’s data stays on the owner’s device, and staff use the app over the shop’s Wi-Fi, so a slow internet connection never stops a sale.
The challenge
Internet in small shops is slow or drops out, and owners don’t want to pay a cloud subscription per terminal or hand over their data. Staff often work from their own phones, shops run several cashiers and shifts, part of the pay is commission, and goods are sold as singles, packs and boxes.
What we built
The owner’s device becomes the server: a local SQLite database and an embedded server on the shop network. Employees find it automatically over Wi-Fi, sign in and scan barcodes with the phone camera. The cloud is used only for the owner’s account and licence check, with a three-day offline grace period.
Barcode scanning with the phone camera or a USB scanner Singles, packs and boxes, with stock always counted in single items Employees with commission, permissions and one session each Shifts, cash places and sales summaries by payment method and employee PDF receipts for 58 mm, 80 mm, A5 and A4 paper Per-item tax and payment methods the owner defines: cash, cards and wallets
